MielePepe, based in Oppido L. (PZ) and operating mainly in the field of beekeeping, mainly in the Alto Bradano area, produces honey which we call "Miele Pepe delle Colline Lucane" (Pepper Honey of the Lucanian Hills) as well as producing bee families and queen bees for sale. Our method of approach to beekeeping is absolutely natural, oriented towards respect for the bee and for nature, without the use of artificial feed or chemical components. The bee we use to collect nectar is exclusively the "Apis mellifera ligustica", also known as the "Italian Bee". Our honey is taken from the honeycombs, extracted mechanically by centrifuging and/or pressing the honeycombs, decanted for forty days and then potted. It is neither microfiltered nor heated. Among our honeys produced in 2020, the 'Asparago Selvatico' honey, harvested in the municipality of Oppido L., is a rare and prized honey with a very fine crystallisation and a unique flavour that is very pleasing to the palate. In September 2021, as a reward for our commitment and passion for these wonderful creatures, the company was awarded three prizes in the competition "Tre Gocce d'Oro Grandi Mieli d'Italia", with two gold drops for each of the three millefiori honeys presented.
